Case Study

Liten Viking

About

“Liten Viking” is a ½ scale replica of the solar E2.6 viking guitar by Hutchinson Guitars, made as a present for Ola Englund. It’s an homage to Ola’s amazing Solar Guitars and the incredible craftsmanship at Hutchinson Guitar Concepts.

This was not initiated nor supported by any of the companies associated with the original product. The production of this guitar was not made for sale or with any commercial intention. It’s true purpose is/was to learn new skills and have some fun.

Construction

Why 1:2 scale? Because it’s the sweet spot scale for detail, handling, material costs and “playability”. It’s the perfect size to display as a decorative element and rock along to your favorite metal band.

The body and neck were made from maple. The guitar has a 3 piece body with a set in neck. Everything is made by hand, no CNC involved. The Inlay on the 12th fret is made from sheet brass. The fine details on the front and back of the guitar were all carved by hand with an exacto knife.

Pursuit Of
Liten Vikings

Like with every tiny guitar we make, we also made a tiny music video. This time it was a cover version of “The Pursuit of Vikings” by swedish melodic death metal band Amon Amarth.

Unboxing of
the Century

The guitar was made as a surprise gift for Ola Englund who filmed the unpacking and made it a part in his Sunday with Ola #101 Youtube video. Seeing his reaction when he saw the Liten Viking for the first time, is absolutly priceless.
